Language fMRI preparation (YNHH)
Sample only
This page includes the 4 steps to prepare the patient for our language fMRI.
Step 1: Review fMRI Consent (webpage): Donate data to improve fMRI
Why?
We know fMRIs like today’s work because patients donated their data to research
The patient’s data will help us better understand how fMRI maps language
This will let us improve fMRI and patient care
What happens?
The patient only consents to donating their data
The data will be anonymized then used in research by our team
Consent is optional: it is not required for the clinical fMRI to go ahead
Required: It is important you understand the task instructions.
Step 2: Review instructions for fMRI task “Visual object naming.”
Look at pictures of objects, and think of their name and something you can do with them.
Step 3: Review instructions for fMRI task “Verbal responsive naming.”
Read a short description of an object, and think of its name.
Step 4: Review instructions for fMRI task “Auditory responsive naming.”
Listen to a short description of an object, and think of its name.
